What is Kids BMI Calculator?

This Kids BMI Calculator calculates Body Mass Index percentile for children and teens aged 2-19 years. Unlike adult BMI, Kids BMI is compared to other kids of the same age and gender using CDC growth charts. It shows where a child stands in their age group. To check adult BMI, use our BMI Calculator.

How to Use It:

  1. Enter height in cm
  2. Enter weight in kg
  3. Enter age between 2-19 years
  4. Select Boy or Girl
  5. Click "Calculate Kids BMI" button

Understanding the Result:

Below 5th Percentile: Underweight. The child weighs less than average. Consult a doctor.

5th to 85th Percentile: Healthy Weight. This is the ideal range.

85th to 95th Percentile: Overweight. Weight is higher than average. Focus on diet and activity.

Above 95th Percentile: Obese. Medical consultation is recommended. You can also check Body Fat Calculator for more details.

Example:

If a 10-year-old boy with height 140 cm and weight 40 kg, his BMI percentile will be around 85th, which falls in the Overweight category.

Important Note:

BMI is only a screening tool. It does not measure muscle, bone density, or body composition. If the result is high or low, consult a pediatrician. To find a healthy weight range, you can also check the Ideal Weight Calculator.
